1.) You are limiting your beliefs: By falling into the belief that there is no job market, you may have become stuck in an inactive job search state because you feel that getting the right job is close to impossible. Abandoned the "defeatist" mentality and take action
2.) Change of crowd: Perhaps the reason you feel that the job market is as bad as you believe it to be, is because you hear others talk about it. Change the crowd of people you are around. Hanging out with negative people may cause you to become negative and in turn, cause you to hinder your chances at getting the right job. Spend time with open-minded, positive individuals.
3.) Perfectionism: People who have all the qualifications for a job could be stopping their progress at getting the right job by simply not sending in their resumes because they are trying to get them "just right". If you don't apply, you won't get the job. So obviously tweak your resume, but don't become obsessed with perfection and let the right job pass you by.
4.) Fear: If you are afraid of failure, rejection and looking bad, you will guarantee that you are preventing your job search progress and your ability to get the right job. However, getting rejected or turned down are part of the job search and you have to be sure that you are persistent and keep your head up.
5.) Don't be disorganized: This is huge when applying for a position and attempting to get the right job. You need to be sure to follow-up. Have all of your papers in the right place and keep track of which companies you've applied for and keep records of who you've followed up with. Make use of excel and be thorough. Be organized enough to get the work done to track you job search.
Finding a job in a tough market may appear to be daunting. Getting the right job may seem impossible. However, you have control over you destiny in the current market. Take charge of your job search and don't allow yourself to stop yourself from getting the right job .
